In all it was a great U18-U21 Western Region Championship at Mission Ridge with many solid performances from the CMAC racers. This championship is comprised of teams throughout the western US, with participants selected from the top competitors in each division. Even being selected to the championship team is a significant accomplishment!

Highlights included Keith McNabb skiing out of 65th start position in GS to move into the top 10 the first day and moving from 65 to 6th on the first run of the second day.  Andrew Osborne took a hard crash in the GS and had to take a few days off, but should be back racing this weekend.  The other boys- Lawrence, Nick, Christian all enjoyed some great move ups- some 30+ places for Lawrence, Christian and some 40+ move ups from Nick, attacking from the back.

The ladies also had some great move ups through the events- with Makaela, Stephanie, Jenna and Natalie all advancing 30-40 spots throughout the weekend.  In particular, Jenna moving up 42 positions in Slalom was a highlight.

The weather and course conditions could not have been any better for the annual Sallie McNabb Cup.  144 competitors competing for the top five trophies in each age bracket, and the Overall Cup.

Congratulations to PARKER ALLING, fastest skier of the day and winner of this year's Overall trophy for the boys.

Congrats to Emily Smokoff, winner of the Overall for the girls.

Owen Deem was top U10 Boy, and 7th overall. Dylan Most was top U10 girl, and a very impressive 3rd overall.

Top U8 boy was Winthrop Flaggert who was also an impressive 6th overall, and Ava Schoening was the fastest U8 girl.

For most, it was a huge accomplishment to finish the top-to-bottom course on Gold Hill, and a first time racing experience for many!

Thank you to all of the volunteers, parents, staff and sponsors for making this the BEST SMC ever!

CMAC was represented by some great results at the Bantam Cup this year with Sadie Kerslake taking the overall top Female award. She won the slalom and Giant slalom both. In the SL CMAC had 4 out of the top 5 racers - Sadie leading the U-14's and Leah Blanchard winning it for the U-12's. The men didn't fair as well but Max Lafreniere had the best result in 8th place. For the GS, the women crushed again with Sadie winning, Katie Holm winning the U-12's and a great result from Evie Wright coming in 2nd for the U-12's. The men were strong with Carter Jendrezak placing 2nd followed by Simon Toribio for the U-12's in 4th. The sun was out Saturday and the race was over early - so we all got some skiing in after the races. Congratulations to all!!!!!

    Congratulations to "No Bull" Champions
Congratulations to the 2013 No Bull champs: Alex Oseland and Andrew Osborne

CMAC hosted another excellent No Bull GS event. We have one of the most difficult hills on the circuit for GS racing and our kids performed very well. The hill can be difficult in poor snow conditions, and fast and difficult on good snow conditions. Saturday proved to be a challenge in soft sugar snow and Sunday was a great challenge on the hard snow. Both days provided quality competition. It is really fun to see the FIS/U16/U14 all together in one event. I think everyone stepped up their skiing to meet the challenge across age classes. We have a very strong team, and the coaches look forward to continued hard work and improvement leading in to the spring championship season. This was perfect way to prepare for the upcoming championship events.

Thanks to all the race crew and coaches for preparing the event, the parent volunteers that ran the event, and to the racers for coming around for final tear down. It takes a full team effort to put on such a quality event, thanks for the great team effort.

CMAC racers had a spectacular week down at the Sun Cup. Many podium finishes and yet another Sun Cup DH/SG Champion, Nick Wurden. Nick will be heading up to the Canadian Nationals with Andrew Osborne in a few weeks. This will give both of them their first experience with a World Class track. Racing against the veteran Erik Guay who place 2nd at Kitzbuhel World Cup this season will be very exciting. Good Luck guys.

Along with Nicks performance we have 14 kids that qualified for the U16 championships in Alaska, and also a large group FIS kids qualified for the Western FIS Finals at Mission this week.  You can find lists of the kids that qualified and details on the PNSA.org web site.

CMAC showing at Hampton cup was spectacular!

CMAC racers were on the podium in all classes, and our racers as a whole showed a very strong improvement with our GS skills. Thanks to all the coaches for an extraordinary effort, we were able to support 60+ kids and the coaching was excellent. From Friday training through Sundays final run the kids were on fire with Keith McNabb as the overall winner at the 2013 Hampton Cup race series!

Taking the advice of the coaches and performing their best. The effort was strong, and the enthusiasm was high among the racers and the staff.

Thanks to all the parents that lent a hand, and having the kids rested and ready to go early each morning. It makes it much easier when the kids are on time and on schedule, especially when you can barely get off the hill in time for video, dinner, waxing, etc.
