March 11-March 14, 2010 (by invitation ONLY)
CMAC Buddy Werner Selection Criteria and Info
This year's Buddy Werner Championship is being hosted by Mt. Hood Academy and will be held March 12-14, 2010. Rooms have been blocked for the Mt. Hood Inn (state "CMAC") AND at Collins Lake Chalet (state "Buddy Werner Championship"), please make your reservations as soon as possible. When you call, let them know you are with the Buddy Werner Championships. The rooms are blocked for Thursday night (March 11) with vacate date of Sunday (March 14).
The CMAC Buddy Werner Team is comprised of the top boys and girls who are enrolled in our Mitey Mite Program and meet the CMAC qualfication guidelines. These team members will represent CMAC at the PNSA Buddy Werner Championship races that are held each March at a ski area within PNSA. All CMAC J4s (11 and 12 year old) and J5s (9 and 10 year olds) are eligible for this team. However, J5 skiers can only qualifiy for the CMAC team if they are one of the top two point finishers in the final point standings. The top SEVEN boys and top SEVEN girls in the final point standings are automatically named to the team. Alternates are also named to the team and will participate in the Championship races in the event one of the SEVEN racers is unable to participate.
Points are awarded using the results of CMAC racers in the CMAC hosted Warm Up Slalom and Cherry Tree Charge Giant Slalom. Each individual run in these two races will count as ONE race and the top 15 CMAC racers will be eligible for receiving scoring points. There are eight (8) scoring runs available (four for the Warm Up and four for the Cherry Tree Charge). A racer's top three results out of the eight total runs will be used to determine point totals. The points are awarded as follows:
1st Place = 25 points
2nd Place = 20 poiints
3rd Place = 15 points
4th Place = 12 poiints
5th Place = 11 points
6th Place = 10 poiints
7th Place = 9 points
8th Place = 8 poiints
9th Place = 7 points
10th Place = 6 poiints
11th Place = 5 points
12th Place = 4 poiints
13th Place = 3 points
14th Place = 2 poiints
15th Place = 1 point
If there is a tie in the standings and the skiers are the same age, we go to the next best run. We continue to evaluate each subsequent run until the tie is broken. If there is a tie between an older racer and younger racer (i.e., between a 10 year old and a 12 year old), the older skier will be awarded the position on the team. NOTE: Once you have made the Buddy Werner Team, ALL seeding is at the discretion of the coach.
